Quick text summary

Dummy Dungeon scored 75/100 on Steam Analyzer — Good for a Roguelike capsule. Top priority fix: [genre_clarity] Add visual roguelike language elements such as loot items, weapons, or progression indicators to strengthen hardcore roguelike differentiation

Capsule scores by dimension

  • Genre Clarity: 7/10 — Cute indie roguelike gameplay clear. The capsule clearly communicates a lighthearted action-adventure game through the stylized character lineup, dungeon setting hints, and colorful palette distinct from hardcore action benchmarks. At tiny size, the character silhouettes and whimsical art style read as indie roguelike rather than hardcore action, matching genre expectations. The visual tone successfully differentiates from darker action competitors.
  • Title Readability: 8/10 — Bold white title excellent clarity. DUMMY DUNGEON uses large, bold white sans-serif lettering positioned on the dark left side with strong contrast against the #1b2838 background. At tiny size, both words remain clearly legible due to generous letter spacing and weight. The positioning avoids cluttered character areas, ensuring reliable readability across all viewing sizes.
  • Contrast & Color: 8/10 — Vibrant palette pops against dark. The characters feature bright cream, pink, blue, and green tones that separate clearly from the dark background and soft purple dungeon interior. Strong value separation between the character group and background creates clear silhouettes even at small sizes. In grayscale, the character cluster reads as a distinct light mass against medium-dark surroundings.
  • Uniqueness & Polish: 7/10 — Charming art direction indie polish. The rounded 3D character designs with distinct personalities and color coding feel intentional and cohesive, distinct from generic action game aesthetics. The composition tells a visual story of heroes ready for adventure rather than just displaying assets. While well-executed, the overall presentation remains within expected indie roguelike visual language rather than pushing a breakthrough hook.
  • Brand Consistency: 7/10 — Consistent character design identity. The six characters share a recognizable art style with consistent proportions, coloring approach, and personality expression that suggests a unified cast. The warm cream skin tones, distinct colored outfits, and expressive faces create a memorable visual signature. The dungeon setting and overall tone align with internal world-building expectations for the game.
  • Composition: 8/10 — Clear focal point strong hierarchy. The character group forms a strong visual hierarchy in the center-right, with the lone character on the left providing balance and narrative intrigue. Title placement on the left leaves the character area unobstructed, maximizing impact at all sizes. The depth layering from foreground characters to background dungeon elements guides the eye naturally, and the composition remains resilient to Steam's standard cropping.

What works

  • Title legibility at all sizes. Bold white DUMMY DUNGEON maintains excellent clarity from full header down to tiny thumbnail due to generous spacing and weight.
  • Character group focal point. The lineup of colorful characters creates a compelling visual center that immediately communicates multiplayer choice and adventure gameplay.
  • Color contrast against background. Bright character palette stands out clearly from dark dungeon setting, ensuring visibility in quick scroll scenarios.
  • Consistent art direction. All characters share recognizable design language that builds brand identity and suggests a cohesive game world.

What hurts the capsule

  • Dungeon setting lacks depth. The background environment reads as softly blurred geometric shapes rather than a compelling dungeon atmosphere that sells the roguelike premise.
  • Generic indie roguelike visual formula. While well-executed, the cute character aesthetic and composition follow expected indie action conventions without a distinctive visual hook compared to top benchmarks.
  • Narrative clarity about roguelike mechanics. The capsule does not visually communicate specific roguelike systems, permadeath stakes, or progression mechanics beyond the character selection concept.

Priority fixes

  1. [genre_clarity] Add visual roguelike language elements such as loot items, weapons, or progression indicators to strengthen hardcore roguelike differentiation
  2. [uniqueness_polish] Enhance dungeon background with clearer environmental details or lighting effects that create atmosphere and visual intrigue
  3. [composition] Introduce a secondary focal point such as a weapon, treasure, or environmental hazard that reinforces the dungeon exploration core loop

Store copy priority fixes

  1. [hook_strength] Rewrite the short description to lead with a specific, differentiating mechanic or combination (e.g., 'Master 24 unique heroes, each with completely different combat styles, to survive fast-paced, bullet-filled dungeons') and remove the princess framing.
  2. [feature_communication] Add an explicit explanation of roguelike structure: runs are finite, death is permanent in a run, and how meta-progression (unlocks, upgrades) carries between runs to clarify the core loop.
  3. [uniqueness] Articulate a specific USP comparing to competitors, such as 'Each of 24 characters plays like a completely different game' or 'Weapon effects fundamentally change how you approach each dungeon' with an example that shows why this matters.
  4. [genre_clarity] Add one sentence explaining bullet-hell mechanics, enemy patterns, or dodge/movement requirements to directly address a primary tag and clarify mechanical demands.
