Quick text summary

Dice of Kalma scored 85/100 on Steam Analyzer — Excellent for a Poker capsule. Top priority fix: [contrast_color] Add subtle dark gradient or atmospheric texture to black background to enhance depth and underworld ambiance while maintaining title legibility.

Capsule scores by dimension

  • Genre Clarity: 8/10 — Dice poker with dark underworld theme. The skull-faced character, dice, and bone aesthetic immediately signal a dark fantasy card/dice game. At TINY size, the dice and skull silhouette remain readable enough to suggest gambling mechanics and death-themed deck building. The visual hook is strong and aligns well with the indie deck-builder genre expectation.
  • Title Readability: 9/10 — Bold gold type reads perfectly. The title 'DICE OF KALMA' uses large, bright golden serif typography with excellent contrast against the black background and clear letter spacing. At TINY size, the text maintains legibility due to the weight and color separation from the dark field. The all-caps treatment and horizontal line separators reinforce hierarchy without clutter.
  • Contrast & Color: 9/10 — Striking gold and dark value separation. The bright golden-yellow title pops dramatically against #1b2838 with strong value contrast and high saturation control. The skeletal character rendered in dark brown and cream tones creates clear silhouette definition against the black void, ensuring no muddy blending. At TINY size, the warm gold and dark skull remain distinctly separated and scannable.
  • Uniqueness & Polish: 8/10 — Distinct dark fantasy deck aesthetic. The skeletal insect-creature with detailed armor and bone jewelry communicates a premium, character-driven visual identity that moves beyond generic dice roller templates. The art style is polished and coherent, with intentional prop design (dice, skull face, ornamental details) that hints at the deck-building and death theme. The presentation avoids the flat asset-bin feel common in indie card games.
  • Brand Consistency: 8/10 — Cohesive dark underworld identity. The skeletal character, gold-on-black color palette, and ornate baroque styling create a recognizable visual signature that should carry across store screenshots and marketing. The skull motif and warm-gold-text-on-darkness formula is distinctive enough to build brand recall without feeling like a copycat of existing indie games. Internal styling is consistent: ornamental serif type, muted character rendering, deliberate symbolic choices.
  • Composition: 9/10 — Clear hierarchy with ideal focal point. The skeleton character anchors the left side with strong visual weight, while the golden title dominates the right with clear emphasis. The three white dice placed in mid-ground between character and text create a compositional bridge that guides the eye naturally. At SMALL and TINY sizes, the focal point hierarchy remains intact; no competing elements or dead space disrupts the read.

What works

  • Excellent title contrast and size. Golden serif type commands immediate attention and reads flawlessly at all viewing sizes due to weight, color, and safe positioning on dark background.
  • Strong thematic visual cohesion. Skeleton, dice, bone jewelry, and underworld color palette work together to communicate both the game's mechanics (dice) and tone (death/dark fantasy) without ambiguity.
  • Professional character rendering. The skeletal insect creature is detailed and polished, signaling premium production value and distinguishing the game from low-effort indie templates.
  • Balanced composition across sizes. Character, dice, and title distribute weight effectively with no wasted space or awkward gaps; the layout remains functional and visually appealing at full, small, and tiny viewports.

What hurts the capsule

  • Black background offers no texture variety. The pure black void lacks atmospheric detail or gradient that could deepen the underworld theme and add visual richness without harming readability.
  • Limited color palette beyond gold and dark tones. Reliance on gold-text-on-black and muted character colors means the capsule lacks warm supporting hues that could enhance visual variety and appeal on scrolling shelves.

Priority fixes

  1. [contrast_color] Add subtle dark gradient or atmospheric texture to black background to enhance depth and underworld ambiance while maintaining title legibility.
  2. [uniqueness_polish] Introduce one accent color (deep burgundy, sickly green, or dark copper) in character jewelry or dice highlights to break tonal monotony and increase visual interest.

Store copy priority fixes

  1. [feature_communication] Replace 'Collect skulls that transform bad rolls into game breaking combos' with a concrete example: e.g., 'Collect skulls like the Reaper (doubles your hand's score) or Lady Luck (grants a free reroll)—each synergizes with different poker hands.'
  2. [feature_communication] In the 'NUMBERS GO UP' section, add 1-2 sentences explaining the actual turn/decision loop: 'Roll your dice, form a poker hand (pair, three-of-a-kind, straight), activate skulls that match your hand type to multiply your score, then decide: reroll dice for a better hand or lock in your score and move to the next round.'
  3. [audience_targeting] Add a sentence clarifying run length and difficulty: 'Each underworld challenge takes 15-30 minutes and unlocks new skulls as you progress, with difficulty scaling to match your deck strength.'
