Quick text summary

Scratchies scored 87/100 on Steam Analyzer — Excellent for a Incremental capsule. Top priority fix: [genre_clarity] Add subtle perk icons or modifier cards in the background to communicate the roguelite progression system and differentiate from standard lottery games.

Capsule scores by dimension

  • Genre Clarity: 9/10 — Scratch card game instantly recognizable. The large green scratch card in the center with visible scratching action and a white gloved hand clearly communicates the core mechanic. The burst/radial background pattern and arcade-style energy reinforces casual, luck-based gameplay. At tiny size, the card silhouette and hand gesture remain unmistakably identifiable as a scratch-off lottery game.
  • Title Readability: 9/10 — Bold yellow title stands out sharply. SCRATCHIES is rendered in thick, all-caps yellow lettering with a green outline against the yellow/green striped background, creating exceptional contrast. The title remains fully legible and impactful at small and tiny sizes due to the heavy weight and color separation. No tagline clutter; the singular word focus aids instant recognition.
  • Contrast & Color: 10/10 — Vibrant primary colors maximize pop. The bright yellow background, lime green accents, and white hand create extreme value separation against Steam's dark #1b2838 background. The color palette is saturated and energetic without muddiness, and key elements maintain crisp silhouettes in grayscale testing. At tiny size, the composition remains visually distinct and immediately catches attention in a scrolling list.
  • Uniqueness & Polish: 8/10 — Playful, distinctive casual arcade style. The retro-inspired white glove hand and pixelated/card-game aesthetic gives the design a charming, intentional personality that differentiates it from generic simulators. The dynamic radial burst background and bold type treatment convey polish and confidence. The core mechanic is communicated through a single, clear visual metaphor rather than relying on character or narrative clutter.
  • Brand Consistency: 7/10 — Consistent arcade casual identity. The bright, playful color palette (yellow, green, white) and the scratch card motif form a cohesive brand anchor. The retro arcade aesthetic with the gloved hand and card-game UI elements creates a recognizable style that would be consistent with store screenshots showing the same design language. However, without access to additional store assets, only internal consistency within this capsule can be fully verified.
  • Composition: 9/10 — Clear hierarchy with centered focal point. The scratch card and hand are positioned prominently in the center, drawing immediate focus, while the radial burst pattern guides the eye inward without competing for attention. The title anchors at top with strong visual weight, and the striped background provides dynamic energy without overwhelming the subject. Composition remains balanced and legible across all sizes, with critical elements safely away from edges.

What works

  • Exceptional contrast against dark background. Bright yellow and lime green colors pop immediately against Steam's dark theme, ensuring the capsule catches attention in browsing and scrolling contexts.
  • Core mechanic instantly communicated. The scratch card and gloved hand immediately signal the game's primary interaction, requiring no guesswork about genre or gameplay.
  • Typography is bold and legible at scale. SCRATCHIES remains fully readable at tiny thumbnail size due to heavy letterforms, high contrast, and clean outline treatment.
  • Playful arcade aesthetic differentiates from competitors. The retro glove hand and card-game visual language gives Scratchies a distinctive charm compared to other casual simulators.

What hurts the capsule

  • Limited visual narrative or hook. While the scratch card is clear, the capsule does not communicate the roguelite or perk-modification aspects that make Scratchies unique in its subgenre.
  • Background pattern could read as noisy at extreme sizes. The radial burst stripes, while energetic, add visual complexity that might compress or blur at very small thumbnail sizes if heavily anti-aliased.

Priority fixes

  1. [genre_clarity] Add subtle perk icons or modifier cards in the background to communicate the roguelite progression system and differentiate from standard lottery games.
  2. [uniqueness_polish] Consider a second visual layer (e.g., win amount, multiplier indicator, or deck stack) that hints at the strategic perk-modification core mechanic.

Store copy priority fixes

  1. [hook_strength] Rewrite the short description to lead with emotional payoff or a specific high-stakes scenario, e.g., 'Risk it all with one scratch. Outsmart fate with perks that turn the odds in your favor—or destroy you.' Fix the 'rouge' typo to 'roguelite.'
  2. [feature_communication] Expand the detailed description by 50–100 words to explain how perks mechanically combine and what loans/wallpapers actually do within the progression system.
  3. [uniqueness] Add 1–2 sentences that articulate what makes Scratchies' take on incremental roguelites distinct (e.g., 'The lottery theme strips away fantasy RPG tropes to focus purely on odds management and compounding wealth').
  4. [audience_targeting] Include a phrase that signals the ideal player type, e.g., 'Perfect for fans of incremental games and roguelites who love managing risk and probability.'
